I brought my Mother to Dermatology today.
She is 95 years old with dementia.
We waited in one reception area, then another reception area.
The Ambulance picked Mum up at 7.55 am in Audenshaw for a 9.15 am appointment so we were 45 minutes early.
Not a good start. Mum was eventually seen at 9.45 am.
The Doctor was very nice and very apologetic.
Sorry but I cannot say the same about the staff.
Most of them do not have a clue about the needs of dementia patients.
"Oh we have a dementia box with some old photos in it, perhaps it will distract her" !!!!!
After the Doctor had seen Mum we then had another wait for a porter and a wheelchair, then another wait about half-a-mile away to wait for transport home.
This wait was 45minutes.
So, from 7.55am until 12.20 pm (over four hours) for a three minute consultation with the Doctor.
Absolutely disgusting, trekking from one area to another, Mum becoming more distressed as the hours ticked by.
Never again will I bring Mum to this Hospital.
This whole experience is going to put her back days.
"Some uncaring unpleasant staff"
