"Excellent Staff....poor waiting time."

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I can understand that any Accident and Emergency Department has to deal with hugh pressure but I do feel that waiting over the 4 hour period and not being advised on this is unacceptable. I was advised to attend the department by a medical Proffesional. You would think that waiting this amount of time would suggest Accident and Emergency was not the place needed but I can assure it was likewise for many of the patients in the waiting room also waiting. It did not look too busy but I can understand there may have been more seriously ill occupying the clinicians/beds. It would have just been reassuring if I was not told the wait would have been around a hour to in fact waiting 4 and a half. All negativity put aside now. All the Reception/Nursing/Clinicians was all outstanding when seen. Each made you feel comfortable and they all acted exceptionally Proffesional. I can honestly say they do have a great team! They are often blamed for long waiting hours when in fact they are consistently working hard. They work through breaks just to deliver care. My issue is not with the staff within the department. It is with the wait which can only be because of staffing levels....which they don't have the funding for more probably! Well done to the staff and the care that was delivered. It is nice not too only have your health needs addressed but to made to feel more comfortable in a stressful situation
