I had an eye test at my usual optician because of problems with not being able to focus with the one eye. They discovered that I had wet macular degeneration in the left eye and a bleed in in the right eye. They said I needed to come to the clinic asap. I collected a letter in the afternoon and then went to the A & E dept at the clinic. Although there was a three and half a hour wait the atmosphere and the patients waiting were very upbeat. It was extremely busy and the staff were so good, polite and caring. When I was called in and had various tests done etc the senior consultant came and had a word with me and re checked my eyes. They found more things wrong but they assured me that they could do something about it all. I have been fast tracked now to the Macular clinic and waiting for my appointment to come through. At all times the staff and doctors were amazing and kept me reassured and relaxed. That to me was a bonus because I was worried sick I would lose my sight. A very busy department but the professionalism and care from everyone was first class. I would say to anyone in our area of Birmingham if they have an eye problem that is the place to go to. Thank you to all of the staff there.
