"Emergency admission with a urology problem"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was admitted to East Surrey Hospital via the Emergency Dept in severe pain and cannot fault the care I was given whilst in hospital for 4 days.

The emergency medicine doctor (mr Lee) and sister (from transylvania) who admitted me were first class in their care both in the speed and thoroughness as they rapidly assessed and treated me for sepsis. I felt cared for and cared about.

However when I waited to be assessed I was disturbed by the screen that told me how long it would be for me to be seen. I did not find that re-assuring. The waiting room was cold and there were many people coming in and out holding the door open.

I was also well cared for on SAU particularly by a nurse called Eric who I observed providing sympathetic care for all the emergency patients in my bay.
