"Nothing"

About: City Hospital (Birmingham)

(as a relative),

What I liked

Nothing

What could be improved

Everything

Anything else?

My Nan was admitted to Sandwell General after suffering from a broken hip and was moved to "rehabilitation" at City Hosptial shortly after.

Due to lack of care for her and not one of the Doctors/Nurses asking if she was okay and practically completely ignoring her, they did not find out she had a ruptured bowel until it was too late.

The hospital needed anitbiotics to stop the effects of the ruptured bowel and apparently could not obtain any as the hospital does not keep them. The incident was at 4o'clock in the morning and we were told that they would have to wait until a pharmacy opened at 9am to get the antibiotics. My Nan had died by 10o'clock.

This hospital did no where near enough as they should have done and showed no concern at all for my Nan.

She was ignored and treated like a child.

The staff were rude and often ignorant when visiting, very unfriendly which is probably a reason as to why my Nan felt as though she could not communicate with them in the first place to tell them she thought something might be wrong. The standard of care here is disgusting.

At present, my mother is in this hospital for a knee operation. After arriving at 7:30am she was not actually in theatre until 1:30pm and once out, was told she could go home once the physio had seen her.

In my Mother's own words the physio "disappeared and there was no one else around to ask what was going on". From being out of theatre at 3oclock, she was left until 6pm unattended with no one around to tell her what was going on.

She eventually found out that the physio had gone home without even bothering to check over my Mother. She is now having to stay over night which she is not happy about as this was meant to be an in-out operation and she detests the hospital after the treatment given to my Nan, her Mother.

She is currently in pain and yet again the hospital can provide no painkillers as they "don't keep them".

The hospital is a joke and I am totally disgusted with the treatment.
