I worked briefly with a nurse at Broxtowe and Hucknall CMHT before requesting a new nurse. I have a long term mental health condition, however never have I experienced such treatment. I can't put my finger on exactly what caused these feelings. I felt that the nurse I saw was disinterested in our first appointment and lacked sensitivity or it could be the fact that the nurse stayed for my initial assessment only 10 minutes before giving me another appointment in three weeks’ time despite me being suicidal. I felt that the nurse had a bored attitude and that they would rather be elsewhere.
I did transfer, however to a new Care-Coordinator who was brilliant. I have subsequently been out of mental health services and living a 'normal' life since.
My feedback would be to ensure all health workers in the Trust remain caring and empathetic. I would like the worries of the service user to be taken seriously as I felt mine weren't.
