I needed some assisrance with an infection which I had let go too long. Went to the 24hr urgent care centre (why aren't there more of these?) at 8.45. Was seen initially at 9.00 and everything under control by 9.30. Saw a doctor almost immediately after the nurse had taken all the details. Necessary tests all done by 10.
Incredible.
They were so friendly and caring but not casual, also worked really well as a small team.
I could hear it was getting busy but not once was I ignored.
The doctor kept coming back saying what was happening to set my expectations.
In the end I did not respond as expected so I was admitted and taken immediately to a male only ward. There the great care, friendliness and efficiency continued. Saw a new doctor and then the consultant by which time I was ok so they sent me home.
Efficient process for leaving.
Frankly not one foot put wrong.
No one can convince me that closing small hospitals is right.
We should be creating emulations of these hospitals in the bigger ones.
Well done and thank you team Penzance. I had heard from a friend you were good but you exceeded all expectations.
"The perfect example of why local hospitals can..."
