Anything else?

As a high risk Cardiac patient, I was booked into Heartlands hospital with my most recent pregnancy, to allow for the cardiac and the maternity teams to oversee my care. After a smooth pregancy, my waters broke at 32 weeks and panic over an early delivery was discussed. All of the midwifes in the day assessment unit, who I had to visit twice a week, we amazing and very reassuring and when an infection was found at 34 weeks, all the consultants leap into action to ensure that my daughter was delivered within 24 hours.

During the c-section the anesthetists and consultants made me feel confident and relaxed, and the after care on the delivery suite was second to none. I was quickly made comfortable and taken down to see my daughter in the neonatal unit.

The staff here were excellent too and after I was transferred up onto the ward the following morning, I was kindly put into a bay with other pregnant ladies, with complications, so I did not have to be the only mum without my baby with me.

It was very hard not to have my daughter with me, but the midwifes kept me going by helping me out with expressing milk and wheeling me back and forth to neonatal to see my little baby.

I am now expecting again and I would love to come to Heartlands again, but it is not my local hospital and having to come back and forth for so many appointments is making me consider Good Hope instead, just wish I lived closer!!

Thanks for all of your help during our stay!!
