I have perforated eardrum and after got check up from the two GPs I got surgery appointment on 4th July, at 9:20 AM in this Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital at Kings Cross. Just before going into the surgery I was seen by the consultant and they made me scared that after surgery there is a high risk of my facial nerve problem, food taste change, and continuous noise in my ear. I asked the consultant what is the risk having the surgery and not having the surgery for my perforated eardrum? Their answer: I would be better off not having the surgery. There is a higher risk of having the surgery. Having the surgery out weight not having the surgery. I was sitting there for more about 15 minutes and asking the consultant I want the surgery because I feel pain in my ear all time. It gets worse in the cold weather. I cannot take the bath. I cannot swim. The consultant's answer was: This is not a reason for having the surgery. After that, they moved onto another reasoning that NHS won't fund my surgery for the perforated eardrum. This point I have felt really disappointed and dishearted because I am paying my NI and paying my TAX and never asked for the benefit and neither desire to ask for the benefit and I could not have my surgery which was already due. The consultant has made feel really sad. I went to my home and straight went to bed because I could not feel even talking to anyone about it. This behaviour is unacceptable and deceiving. This doctor has deprived me of having my surgery at the last moment.
"Denied my surgery just moment before it was due"
