My mum was admitted on the 25th may 2016 with a broken hip.
After waiting for 4 days she received surgery of a complete hip replacement.
This was an unsatisfactory wait with no explanation as to why the operation was cancelled 3 times.
She received good care on the ward 42, but we feel she was perhaps put on the wrong ward.
This should have been an orthopaedic issue not a geriatric one. Since leaving the hospital after a 2 week stay, and crutches and a zimmer frame she has had no appointment for a follow up, neither received any information about physio.
We don't know where to get any help or information about rehabilitation or whether the little bit of exercises the hospital gave my mum are appropriate or effective. She is 7 weeks after surgery now and we are a little disappointed that no one person has been in touch to see whether she is ok.
She could still be struggling to get the dvt stockings on for all you care !!!!!!!
We would appreciate knowing if we are doing the right thing or not the right thing - after 7 weeks any damage could be irreparable.
