"St Marys treatment centre colonoscopy procedure"

About: Practice Plus

Today I had a colonoscopy procedure at st Marys treatment centre portsmouth. I feel very upset at the attitude and remarks the consultant made whilst completing the consent form before the procedure.

When they asked why I required a deep sedation I questioned it myself and replied that maybe during the pre assessment the nurse had requested this as I have scar tissue from previous operations and a posterior prolapse. I asked the consultant's advice on the sedation and I feel they were dismissive and said I had requested it when I did not. This made me feel uncomfortable and I was in tears when I got to theatre. Also they left the room when I was completing the consent form and returned after I had signed and ticked the boxes - wasn't expecting that. Furthermore after the treatment I was told I had two biopsies and wasn't given a chance to discuss this as the report was folded up by the nurse and told me it was on the report they were giving me. I am very disappointed only wanted a minute to ask questions to reduce the anxiety. Reluctant to return and would not recommend. I would appreciate any feedback. I was not given a feedback form unlike the chap opposite me
