"A&E June 2016"

About: Tameside General Hospital

I attended A&E after a fall in my garden and injuring my knee. I was seen by a Nurse Practitioner who barely glanced at my knee before saying "I don't need to x-ray it I know what you've done you've strained your miniscus, 4 - 6 weeks and it will be fine". They didn't explain any of what the "diagnosis actually was just told me to use it as normal stop it seizing up. I had to google that myself when I got home.Fast forward 6 weeks and it is NOT fine - in fact it is no better! I go and see my GP who actually takes time to examine my knee and surrounding area, measures both legs and tells me that they think I have actually torn my hamstring - totally different diagnosis and totally different management (by doing what the nurse practioner told me I had inadvertentley been making things WORSE)! I am know waiting for an MRI scan which was requested by GP Surgery
