"A&E to Day ward."

About: Bedford Hospital South Wing

Enduring a and e on a Friday night is no ones cup of tea. The waiting area was fairly packed and the staff seemed to be down a few key team players. That said, they were excellent once I was seen. Two horrific RTAs pushed us (rightly so) down the pecking order, but the doctor and triage nurse were still both very apologetic. Once I was seen, the swiftness improved. There was then only another hour or so waiting for a nurse to administer the final meds. Returning to the Day ward for follow up care was seamless. The ward Sister was brilliant and the cups of tea were fairly palatable!! With staff shortages and cuts to support services, the NHS still manages to function with care and support, asking as one is prepared to bring a good book to read in the waiting time!
