About: Crosshouse Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was helicoptered off Arran with broken tibia and fibula. In orthopaedic trauma ward from Thursday to Saturday. Care I received was second to none. Nurses were all very helpful and compassionate. I would like to pay tribute in particular to staff nurse Jackie. She is the epitome of a great nurse. So kind and caring, with a wonderful sense of humour. I don't know how people can complain about NHS When we have nurses like these looking after us. They work tirelessly.

They made my stay there so much more bearable after the trauma of my fall and subsequent rescue by Arran Mountain Rescue Team and the Coastguard.

our NHS is a fantastic service. It's s shame more people don't realise this.



The only improvement I can suggest is for there to be single sex wards.

OOPs, that must have hurt, I hope it is comfortable now. I am so glad you have had such a good experience in the Orthopaedic ward and the staff (particularly Jackie) have kept your chin up. I will be delighted to make sure the staff see your sentiments. Regarding single sex wards, I remember them well, I will pass on your comment for the management teams consideration.

Honestly, some folk will go to any length to get a helicopter ride (I'm just jealous).

Dear Eunice

The staff certainly helped me to keep my chin up with their cheerful banter, and not just the nursing staff. The auxiliary staff were equally nice. I agree that it was a drastic way to get a ride in a helicopter. First time in my life I have had 8 men fussing over me, but even if George Clooney had been on the mountain rescue team I probably wouldn't have noticed. Entinox is wonderful stuff!

I am now recovering well at home and am under the care of Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. I have had a home visit from Occupational Therapy and a Physiotherapist has been out to see me twice to help with mobility. I am being so well looked after by the NHS and have been since my accident. Keep up the good work!

While I would dearly love to go back to Arran, I don't think I my daughter will let me go on holiday ever again!
