"Mixed emotions.."

After feeling loss of movement and anxious about my baby I visited ANDU, saw an amazing midwife and doctor who agreed to induce me earlier than my promised date of the 10th July and admitted me on Tuesday 5th July. On arrival at 9:30 I was shown to my bed by a student midwife (amazing and finishing their 3rd year) who explained everything to me and what the procedure entailed and carried out the first steps. After a long day of waiting around I started to get mild contractions around 7pm, they put me on the monitor and then left to handover to the night shift.. After maybe an hour a midwife who was then looking after me and two other members of staff came in to send my Mum and Partner home as 'nothing was happening' I was left with the pains for a while until the midwife advised me to take paracetamol and codeine and to go to sleep. On two occasions they advised me that it was impossible for me to be in labour as the first propess that they insert is to soften your cervix and with it being my first baby it's very unlikely that I would go into labour from the first attempt. Around 4 hours later with contractions every 3-5 minutes I finally gave in and asked for pain relief as I knew I was progressing, I was given a tens machine and pethadine, again this didn't work and I asked the midwife again if I could be in labour. After what seemed like mithering them for the past few hours they finally offered to examine me but again advised that they were sure I wasn't in labour and to try and rest and save my energy for when I was. Low and behold I was 4cm dilated and they rang through to delivery and put me top of the list (before two others that were apparently infl full established labour and priority but we're both fast asleep) after a long time on M2 I was greeted by my midwife who took me to delivery the midwife was amazing and made me feel so safe and confortable throughout my whole labour, kept me calm and made all of the right decisions to keep me and my baby safe. My partner and my mum were both worried as we had a few complications but the midwife was so calm and reassuring, if it wasn't for them I couldn't have done it. Would definitely recommend them to anyone. After a long 2 hours pushing the decision was made for forceps delivery in surgery as the baby just wouldn't come, I was greeted by an anthiatist who explained what they would do and whisked away to surgery with my partner. An outstanding team of surgeons cannot fault a single one of them, again re assuring and professional. I would like to thank the staff who delivered George in the end and the doctor who assisted, all of the doctors and surgeons who helped me through it all and everyone in recovery. Finally I was transferred to M4 where I was looked after by lovely nurses, again a huge thank you! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of your help I will never forget it! Overall my initial arrival for my induction wasn't the best but the end result was amazing. Would definitely recommend
