My dad was operated on but no communication from surgeon on outcome of procedure even within his 3 day stay.
Initial surgeon dad was scheduled to see apparently no longer did this hence rescheduled with a new surgeon.
On day of surgery (the last time we would see the surgeon), the surgeon was abrupt in their approach stating they are just told where to go on the day and given notes and wouldn't know what they were dealing with until they got dad in theatre.
Staff who cared for dad on way to theatre also indicated to me that surgeon was in a mood due to some discussions over urology skills.
After the first night and family asking if anyone knew what had happened to dad Nursing staff tried to find / contact surgeon but to no avail.
Can not fault the excellent nursing, HCSW care and anaesthetist - which we are extremely grateful for and appreciative of.
Dad was discharged with no understanding on how the procedure went, or whether his concern of urniating blood was resolved through this investigation/ op. Extremely disappointing and concerning that essential patient communication had not taken place. No one should be operated on and not informed of the outcome!
"Dischared without knowing how procedure went"
