If I had to make a list of a million great ways to spend a wet Friday in July I can guarantee that having a hernia operation would not be on it. The whole experience, whilst not the most pleasant, was an education. From the moment I walked through the entrance doors, tired and grumpy and lacking coffee at 7am, not having eaten or had a drink since 9pm the night before I met a series of dedicated professionals who went out of their way to make the day as painless as possible. I asked for directions and was escorted to the waiting area where I was dealt with quickly and efficiently. I was prepared to spend a lot of time waiting as I was told this may happen so I brought music and magazines. I was kept informed of where I was on the list and when I was moved down I was told why and understood. Staff apologised for asking the same questions repeatedly (name dob etc), I am glad they did ask the questions it saves mix ups. The surgery team were fantastic and even managed to make me laugh, The op went well and I was allowed home with medication and instructions. I would like to thank everybody who I met that that day, their attitude and professionalism was a delight and without exception the all seemed to care. Thanks
"Not a holiday but better than expected."
