"A&E visit (and Empress Unit for my mum)"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Whilst out at Shorne woods I was bitten by a mosquito and my finger became swollen (solid), red and sore.

111 advised me to go straight to A&E as it was spreading across my hand whilst I was on the phone to them. I arrived about 6.30pm, was seen by the nurse straight away and told to wait to be called in by the doctor. I was expecting to be there for hours. After about 5 mins I was called through. Doctor diagnosed cellulitis and said I'll get you a prescription. The doctor came back 5 minutes later with the actual tablets!

Was in and out in about 30 minutes! Amazing, thank you.

Also thanks to the Empress unit. They discovered that my mum had breast cancer last year and they have been amazing too. Really caring and helpful. Explained everything and are really on top of the appointments making sure she is ok. The consultant and their team (especially the nurses) have been excellent. The surgical team were wonderful too!

My experience of DVH has been nothing but brilliant, thank you.
