"blood testing at Altrincham General"

About: Altrincham General Hospital

I attended at the hospital on Thurs day of this week about 11.00 I needed a blood test on going to the department I was informed there was at least a 2hour wait.

This is totally unacceptable .

At the old hospital if you waited 30 mins you were surprised. Obviously there aren't enough staff on when I have been in the past I have had to wait at least 1 hour and there have only been 2 phlebotomists on duty.

We have a new hospital and we hoped when it opened there would be even better service sadly this is not the case.

I still haven't had my blood test and will try again next week.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would hope. It is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible.

Please accept our apologies as a two hour wait is not acceptable. We try to inform patients if there will be a delay for blood tests so that they can make an informed decision. We understand that there have been some short term illness and maternity leave absences in the team which have sometimes left the department short staffed. The Altrincham Hospital Management team would like to reassure you that they are putting actions in place to address the short falls and maintain an efficient phlebotomy service.

It is difficult to respond to all the posts in a full way often because of a lack of detailed information, therefore if you would like to discuss your concern regarding the Phlebotomy service at Altrincham with us in more detail, please feel free to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk
