"Dirty Wards, Unhelpful doctors who don't listen..."

About: Princess Royal Hospital (Haywards Heath)

I visited my wife in hospital who came in to A & E because of excruciating pain in her leg, unable to walk or move. Every time I came there were discarded items on the floor which should have been put in the bins properly - these were not patients items like tissues but anything from packaging to cotton wool type swabs. The doctors failed to communicate properly, changing their mind every day on what the possible causes were and never seemed to listen to what they were being told...the best being that my wife should be more active...I guess playing tennis 4 times a week and walking the dogs every day for an hour is sedentary. It must be because their assumption was that she sits down too much.

And just to show how much money is wasted, on arrival at A & E it was decided that she needed an MRI...she was then transferred to Brighton where they would not do an MRI, but they did an X ray and diagnosed a break so sent her back to Haywards Heath, who decided that it was not a break. Then they said it was, then they said it wasn't, then they did an MRI...5 days later they have decided that she can walk out with some pain tablets because they are not sure what it is, but it is not a break and it is not a nerve problem so she will have to get over it with pain management. The consultant and junior doctors showed no empathy...they are not even living up to the values and charter that they are supposed to...the nurses on the other hand were polite and showed more intelligence and understanding than any of the doctors. This hospital is also the one where they managed to give me a infection following a routine knee operation.
