Following my operation for a new hip I resolved to work work work to get back to full fitness. I walk several miles now every day.
The big issue is not being able to drive. Its cost me thousands of pounds and there is no "sick pay" for the self employed. I consider that I have been in a better stae to drive after 14 days than I was before.
I could hold my leg up independently as a keep fit exercise for 2 minutes - its now more than three.
Ive been to Norfolk bird watching and walking Derbyshire walking the hills. Ive covered miles - gone distances I havent gone for 18 months.
I contacted my insurers - they said fine you can drive as long as your doctor says so.
I contacted the surgery, they said they'd have to see me, then having wasted my time going in, said it would have to come from the hospital.
That wasted 6 days.
last Monday on the back of this I contacted Woodthorpe.
The cliinical secretary had already left for the day, but reception said theyd deliver the message.
Where I live there is nothing, and all this "six weeks" nonsense fails to appreciate that different people of different ages and differing fitness levels heal at different rates.
I need to get bak to my work and for that I need to drive. Yet there's been no response to my Monday request and there is no E mail or anything to make the request in detail.
I dont want to go public like this but it is the only choice left.
I just feel no one wants to appreciate my circumstances and fitness, and that i am treated the same as someone 20 years older who isnt anything like as fit and isnt working.
It feels like once I left Woodthorpe and its excellent treatment that I've just been abandoned by both you and my local GP.
PS all US websites seem to show people driving after a month.
