"Nice to see such a hands on charge nurse!"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services

(as the patient),

I was admitted as a list admission to the gynae ward and as a member of nursing staff I was a bit anxious about being on the other end of my role! All the staff on the ward were great and despite the ward being incredibly busy the staff were always on hand to help. At the weekend I was transferred from 308 to 309 where again I was well looked after by the team despite the fact they were short staffed and there was a very demanding patient also on the ward requiring a lot of attention.

The senior charge nurse was on duty and did my dressings and made sure I was ok for discharge - it was nice to see such a hands on charge nurse!

Dear PtJune16

Many thanks for taking time out to post your feedback on Patient Opinion. The staff in ward 308 and 309 will be very happy to know that they are doing a great job.

I can understand that being a nurse yourself made you a little bit anxious but it is also fabulous to be recognised by someone from our own profession.

We are very supportive of our Senior Charge Nurses being out and about on the wards, acting as good role models and providing visible leadership to ward teams.

It is nice to know that no matter how busy staff are they always put patients’ needs first.

Thank you again for your lovely story. We hope you are well now.

Kind regards,
