"Food on wards"

About: Highbury Hospital

(as a relative),

How can a catering company offer reasonably good food in their restaurant and dismal food on the wards to the unwell patients?

Also, it would appear that allergies, intolerance, and special diets only work if 3, yes 3, patients in the entire hospital have this particular issue, as the caterers only seem send up 3 allergen free meals for an entire hospital, regardless of the number pf patients with these problems. The food sent to my partner on numerous occasions were not only inedible, but were so poorly made that you could've dismantled the raw ingredients from it. My partner has allergies and went 4 days without food because those "caterers" didnt talk to the ward about helping or arranging something for the patient.

I am absolutely disgusted by the company providing this service. I am very concerned by their attitude in allowing people to either suffer the consequences of knowingly eating food that they're allergic to, or starve.

Numerous complaints have been made, but still people starve, and nothing changes.

Dear SnoopyDylan

Thanks for getting in touch about this. I am really sorry to hear about the experience of your relative and I would like to assure you that I am taking immediate action to make sure this is sorted out for this evenings meal and for all specialist diets provided by our caterers given the serious concerns you have raised.

I have spoken with the General Manager responsible for catering services and he is informing the catering team this afternoon and a review of all allergy meals will be undertaken. He has also offered to meet with you to discuss the issues you have raised. If you call the Highbury number and ask for the general manager of catering services the reception will put you through.

Alternatively should you wish to speak to me please do not hesitate to get in touch. I can also be contacted via Highbury reception.
