"Shocking care received"

I had my first baby in 2009 at QCCH and went high risk due to the fact that my placenta was near the OS and should have been measured/monitored with ultrasounds in the end I had a normal delivery despite my midwife having to pull the emergency cord prior to me pushing (they warned me the room was about to be filled with staff before hand) because I had to be examined by a doctor and they could not find one for over 20 mins and I needed to be okayed to push. When the doctors rushed in one got on with examining once my midwife explained and another argued that I was not an emergency and my midwife was trying to explain I would have become one, my mum asked that doctor to leave and not argue over me which they did... I also ended up having an operation to removed placenta 7 weeks later and had an infection too. Second baby Jan 2016 ante natal care was good, waiting times to be expected but never excessive as this is a busy service and I work in the NHS and am understanding of these things. Main thing the staff were professional especially the kind mental health midwife and the OC team as well as gynaecologist doctors I saw. My first midwife on the delivery suite was excellent and very caring whereas when the shift changed the second midwife was not kind and everything went downhill from there onwards, they made me very anxious because of their comments and uncertainties of whether I could cope on gas and air which I did. I had a normal delivery with no tears or assisstance again. On the post natal ward I stayed one week. The toilets/shower were filthy at times so I kept my flip floos on to shower. Luckily all of the staff were nice in the postnatal ward except for one midwife one night tehy were nasty due to the fact that: I had borrowed nappies on day 5 having run out (which I replaced when my cousins brought me more); I was having mental health issues and I was in severe pain in my pelvis, they refused me pain killers because they claimed it was normal womb contraction pain I felt but I explained that it feels like the pain I had before when I had an infection before, they said you are going home tomorrow. I begged can I get some tests done their response was your mental health midwife is coming to see you tomorrow I asked what does that have to do with my pain and they walked off. I ate 4 bars of choclotae (yes 4 snickers bars) and cried myself to sleep. In the morning I asked my cousin to bring me pain killers then I got struck with a fever and ended up staying another 2 days because it finally came to light that I did have something wrong with me. The only thing I can commend is the swift response of the midwife who dealt with me the following morning. They were so caring and considerate I'm glad I got extremely sick on their watch because they made sure to get a doctor and get all the tests I needed to diagnose my septecemia. Apart from the unprofessional care from that one midwife all the staff were excellent from the domestics to the HCAs and ward sister
