The moment I was diagnosed with prostate cancer I couldn't have been in better hands. Primarily with the Urology department but at one point the Berkshire Cancer Centre too.
Consultants, doctors and nursing staff were both friendly and efficient throughout the series of appointments that followed. There was never any delay in getting me to the next stage of dealing with the condition.
Information is important and I was given handouts at appropriate points along the way. Including a clear picture of both pre-operative and post-operative procedures that left me in no doubt what to expect.
Come the operation to remove the prostate gland, a daunting experience, members of the surgical team soon had me feeling relaxed beforehand. Afterwards the level of care by the nursing team, both in recovery and in Hopkins ward, was second to none.
My thanks goes to everyone concerned.
