"A&E experience"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

I took my Grandma to pruh A&E Saturday night with extremely high blood pressure, headaches and dizziness. We saw a triage nurse who was very abrupt, scruffy in appearance and made no attempt to communicate effectively to my elderly relative. The nurse was attempting to take her bp reading over her top and the cuff clearly wasn't on properly so it didn't read.

We saw a doctor who was more attentive but other than checking bp did no further tests. No blood test, no ECG, no treatment given. Sent home with a prescription for the next day with scarily high bp.

The reception staff were constantly laughing and joking which was very unprofessional. The layout in a&e is awful. No room to manoeuvre wheelchairs or get to the treatment rooms.

As an nhs worker myself I felt very let down by the lack of care my grandma received.
