"Do not resuscitate procedure no proper..."

About: Abingdon Community Hospital

My mother was 'talked at' to obtain a 'do not resuscitation notice' on her first day at Abingdon Community Hospital.

I was told she agreed to this. Knowing my mother's previous wishes I questioned this.

I visited my mother who said she was confused and didn't want to be denied resuscitation.

4 days later I was again contacted by the doctor who again said my mother had agreed to DNR

On visiting my mother she again said this is not what she wanted. She had been overwhelmed by being confronted by a doctor and senior nurse.

I have a recording of my mother's explanation of what happened.

I have so much more to add. I feel that my mother's human rights may have been breached.

I do feel that my mother should have had an advocate present to represent her.

Dear Mr Hooper,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review with regards to your Mothers care she received at Abingdon Hospital and I am sorry to read the concerns around your Mother having a 'do not resuscitation notice' on admission when she was overwhelmed.

We take all feedback about our services seriously and I would be grateful if you could contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) either via email PALS@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk or by telephone 0800 328 7971 to discuss this matter in more detail.

Kind regards
