I went to the hospital on Saturday morning at 5 am with a head wound, there was no waiting time but it took 3 hours to sort me out and move me from minor to assesment, at 8 o'clock, i waited a further 3 hours to be seen by a doctor. They did a hand over at 8 am for the dayshift doctors and i was told they wouldn't be long before they see me. I waited an additional 3 hours, so 6 hours in total, without even seeing a doctor. I was told that the doctors are seeing everyone else first as they have been in all night. So the question needs to be asked! Why didn't the nightsift doctors see them? I understand that some people's injuries will be a lot worse than mine so they should be seen before me, but why weren't they seen by the nightshift doctors and whoever came in during the night that hasn't seem a doctor actually see one. I did finally get to speak to a doctor at 11:10 am over 6 hours after arriving at A&E but this was because i was discharging myself as i was sick of the care given. Shouldn't have to wait an addition 4 hours to see a doctor just because you move departments.
"Why not seen by a doctor?"
