"Disgraceful system"

About: King Edward Vii Hospital (Windsor)

Having been asked to attend a review appointment after having been at seen at the Royal Berks 12 days ago (originally advised should be seen in 4 to 5 days but no appointment arrived ).

We waited 4.5 hours to be seen, my appointment being 1.30pm.

It is the most ludicrous system where you have review appointments in a Casualty department. There should be a separate clinic for these reviews.

I feel you need to have a serious look at this matter. You most certainly are not treating patients with dignity and respect and definitely are not giving a five star service that you are claiming.

We are very sorry that you had such a bad experience when visiting Eye Casualty. Our staff take their duty of care very seriously and always endeavour to offer the best standard of care to our patients. We are sorry that it was not fully explained to you that your follow-up appointment was in Eye Casualty and that there may be a delay due to the prioritising of urgent/complex patients . Your feedback has been shared with the team for review and discussion. If you would like to speak to the matron for the area, please contact our Patient Relations Team on 0118 322 8338 or email talktous@royalberkshire.nhs.uk
