I had an elective cesarean at St Heliers in June 2016.
We had all our obstetrician appointments at the hospital too.
The equipment is very old and the rooms aren't in the greatest conditions, but the midwives, nurses and doctors make up for that. They were all very friendly, helpful, professional and lovely in general.
On the day, the midwives were lovely, kept us well informed throughout the whole process. The doctors were delayed due to the floods, so my operation was delayed by an hour.
The M4 ward was a bit too hot for me personally and the beds were very old, meaning you needed someone to assist you to adjust the height or the back.
I was quiet happy with the food as well, not bad at all for hospital food, I would recommend the fish pie.
Overall, I was a bit scared to have my baby at St Heliers, but I would recommend it after going through it.
The only complaint I have is that they do not have enough private rooms. I would've loved to have one, but they were unavailable.
"Lovely helpful staff, ancient equipment"
