"I was in NNUH for my second operation ..."

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was in NNUH for my second operation within 6 months for cancer. All the staff at the hospital from the doctors and nurses, to the consultants secretary, the xray dept, medical illustration dept, pre-op assessment, cleaners and catering staff were friendly, professional and kind. The nurse who was so attentive in the recovery room whilst waiting for a space on the ward made a real difference. Nothing was too much trouble.

What could be improved

Just a small gripe, for both operations I was admitted via the same day admissions unit. It would be nice to be told where on the list you are so you have a rough idea of waiting time. For the first operation I was waiting for nearly 5 hours, and it would have been nice to have some idea how long the wait would be.

Anything else?

Despite what the media would have you believe, the NHS is a fantastic institution, and thanks to NNUH staff I am able to look forward to a healthy future.

Thanks for your kind feedback. Pleased to hear you had friendly, professional and kind care from such a variety of departments. The point about time waiting on the Same Day Admissions Unit (SDAU) is a good one and we will pass that on to the SDAU team.
