My wife was admitted to Hinchingbrooke hospital in Huntingdon as an emergency. From the outset it was fairly clear to me she wouldn't be coming home again. When taken to A&E she was given fantastic care and every effort was made to repair her. She was operated on immediately but sadly after 12 days in critical care she passed away. As with the A&E, the Critical Care Unit gave her fantastic nursing and medical care and although we didn't get the result we hoped for, no effort was spared trying.
All during this 12 days, what was most amazing and memorable for me, was how both departments cared for me also. I was supported throughout and gently prepared for what was to come. They made sure I had food and rest when needed as well as the support.
I was able to recommend a nurse from A&E for a local award for her individual care and attention. She won it! . unfortunately the entry date closed before I could do the same for The Critical Care Unit, but I would like to pay tribute to them all for a truly wonderful nursing and medical experience. By being so caring, they made my wife's passing a transition she would have loved. Please give them all a huge 'THANK YOU'.
"My Wife's final admission and care."
