"Neurology"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

After a very frightening event which happened whilst driving to work at the end of February I was referred to neurology by my GP.

I rang several times to chase the appointment and the consultant's secretary was incredibly helpful and understanding.

I finally saw the consultant in May.

The consultant didn't appear to listen to what I was saying and their letter to my GP confirmed that they hadn't listened as it was littered with mistakes (which I rang the secretary and asked them to correct).

The consultant had requested an MRI scan and said they would see me again in 2 months.

I had my MRI scan which I have discussed with my GP.

I have asked to see the consultant sooner as I would really like to know what is happening.

The consultant's theory of migraine has been discounted by the MRI scan.

It is quite scary to know there is something wrong, to have constant headaches (and I mean constant - all the time, day and night from end of February to now) and total exhaustion) but not to know what is causing it.

My GP has been fantastic and supportive.

The consultant's secretary has been really helpful but the consultant them-self - the one who is supposed to be able to give me some kind of diagnosis and hopefully treatment.......Let's see what happens next time I see them.

Just hoping that whatever is going on inside my head is not made worse by lack of treatment over this period of time.
