"Opthalmology dead end"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

My father who is 93 and is physically quite weak has a problem opening his left eye. He was referred to the HRI eye hospital, ophthalmology department. After some difficulty getting him an appointment, we managed to get him there with difficulty. Some checks were made and a blood sample was taken and a follow up appointment was made a full 6 weeks later. This time we managed to get him there again with some difficulty but the same doctor simply told him they hadn't received the results of the blood test!!!! so he's back home with absolutely nothing having been done in the 8 weeks since seeing his GP. His eye problem (added to other health issues) is making him depressed and we his relatives can't offer him any hope because there appears to be no way ahead in the short term...and at 93 he doesn't have time to wait.
