"Terrible a and e trip"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

I went in by ambulance with a head injury after falling unconscious for 30 seconds, tingling sensations hot and cold flushes and extreme nausea. This was at 1130pm, when I reached a and e I was told there was a 3 hour wait, however I was not seen after waiting until 430am. After speaking with an elderly lady who fell forward with two black eyes and other facal injury I found she had been waiting for over 5 hours.

Furthermore there was no one seen by a doctor from 3am until 430.

Disgraceful waiting time.

We're very sorry that you encountered a long wait in the A&E department at Eastbourne DGH, this must have been incredibly frustrating for you. In order for us to look into what happened, and provide you with an explanation, we would like an opportunity to speak to you in person and gather more details. This will enable us to ascertain the reasons for your delay in being seen.

If you would like to do this, please contact out Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS). They can be contacted on 01323 435886 or by email at: esh-tr.PALSE@nhs.net.

Please be assured we take your posting very seriously and have forwarded your comments to the Head of Nursing and Clinical Lead to review.

Thank you for letting us know about your poor experience and we hope that you feel able to contact us so that we can apologise in person.
