My stay in hospital was on the Turka Ward, for a knee replacement. My first upset was an anesthetist who referred to me a bulk. I am overweight. His manner was quite rude.
I am pleased to say that this rudeness did not continue with other staff. My first encounter was with Mike, a night nurse. I was dubious about a male nurse giving me a bedpan, but he was caring matter-of-fact and nothing was too much trouble. Maria, who worked with him, took trouble with washing me and checking personal areas.
All of the staff were kind, courteous, and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. This includes ALL staff, not just nursing; including catering, cleaning and the porters. I was so impressed, even the food was excellent. I can't wait to come in for my next operation.
