I'm 41 years old and have never visited a Hospital before. (at least not for myself) About 4 weeks ago i tore the muscle in my leg. Like an idiot i didn't seek treatment straight away. When the other leg felt like the same thing was happening (probably because of overcompensating on it) i panicked and rushed to Hospital. I'm not ashamed to admit i was pretty scared of hospitals and this was probably the main reason i'd held off going for so long.
Anyway, when me and my niece (who was driving me) arrived, we weren't really sure which entrance to use and sort of stood there a bit lost, debating the issue. A helpful porter heard us and directed us to the right place. The receptionist was pretty much what you'd expect from a receptionst. Took my details, made eye contact and was polite. Since we'd arrived around 6PM-ish i expected to be waiting for quite a few hours but i was seen by the assessment nurse in about 15 minutes. They were great. Smiled, put me at ease and somehow managed to get the details of why i was there out of me, despite my nervousness. After seeing the nurse i waited a further 20-30 minutes and was called by a Practitioning Nurse. They were very proffesional. Examined both legs and gave me advise on moving forward. They were courteous and polite, managed to listen without leting me go on for too long and answered my questions. There wasn't actually anything they could do for me really except to tell me to make sure i continued using the crutches, iced the legs and take painkillers (which i hadn't been doing). Booked me in to see a physical therapist at a later date.
All in all, at each step of the visit i got the perfect person for the job they were doing, even down to the helpful porter.
Would definitely recomend to others.
By the way i used the walk in centre! It's not in the options for department for some reason, which is why i couldn't select it.
"Walk In Centre was great!"
