June 7th 2016. Had to spend a day at the Elmsted ward as a private patient while waiting for space in Nuffield. Majority of the staff didn't speak basic English and ward was so understaffed i struggled to get anyone to attend me. After major gynecological surgery, on epidural pain relief i couldn't even move my head. In 8 hours i had obs taken ones and had to shout or send my visitors to get nurses. Wasn't given the button to ring for help, wasn't given pain relief in time, my catheter and abdominal drain weren't checked at all! Only after having a serious word with night shift head nurse and mention that insurance won't pay for this day, i was given due attention. My dressing wasn't checked once up until i was discharged only because i didn't ask for it! Next day i was almost bullied into accepting treatment my doctor didn't prescribed and nurses got angry with me because i demanded to see my doctor before i take anything!
Absolutely outrageous and terrifying experience. Oh and private patients management lied to my face that they don't have private rooms. Funny enough they do and head nurse couldn't find them, for them to explain their lies. I hate to think what kind of treatment nhs patients receive there.
"unbelievable horrible"
