"My pre op assessment"

About: Queen Mary's Hospital

As part of my pre assessment for surgery I am asked to write down any recent infections. Not sure what to write.

A few months ago I went to the chest clinic and a nurse , with long fingernails, took my blood pressure.

My partner, a health assistant, increased my anxiety by saying that I could have a potential infection as bugs live under chipped nail polish.

He told me that hospitals have a policy on health care workers , must have clean short nails.

My GP said I do not and not to worry but worrying is in my nature and I could do with out the added stress before my operation.
