"Long wait in A&E"

About: Sheffield Children's Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

We were sent to sheffield childrens by the Doctor who saw my 5yr old daughter. She was in a lot of distress, vomitting, temp, headache, and not keeping fluid down. She was dehydrated. The doctor fast tracked us onto a ward, stating we would not have to go through the abysmal A&E system. Upon arrival at A&E just before 10pm we were told we would have to be seen by triage, her temp was still up, she was drousy and dehydrated. We were given a drink to give her and a record sheet. The record sheet was full, she was getting worse but no assistance was offered. We sat in A&E until 1. 30 am where a porter commented on how long we had been sat there. I said we are about to go and he said give me two minutes and I will have a word. We were the last sat in A&E three and a half hours later.
