"Outpatients appointment at eye clinic"

About: Ipswich Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a friend),

Encountered a very long wait to see a doctor after other procedures had been carried out. Was told that they had been called away to emergencies. Surely leaving the hospital at 5. 50 pm after arriving early for a 3. 30 pm appointment cannot be classed as acceptable. Concerned as the person I was bringing needs further treatment and do not want a repeat of this!

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your comments; I am sorry to hear that you had a protracted wait. On occasion it is inevitable that a doctor may be called away for an emergency, we try to minimize the impact this has on other patients by requesting help from other Doctors who are available and I am sorry that in this instance we could not meet your expectations. If you would like to discuss please give me a call on 01473 702101

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I realised what the problem was and as is the case all over the NHS a shortage of funds means there cannot be a doctor who deals with emergencies only. My friend is having further treatment but we are hoping that by having early morning appointments we will not encounter so long a wait next time. My comments were not meant as a criticism of any of the doctors or other staff in the department.
