"Could not have asked for better service!"

About: Torbay Hospital

Unfortunately our 21 year old daughter was taken into the A&E department early Wednesday morning by the Ambulance crew. From them arriving at our house they were quick to reassure me as her mum that everything would be okay, and they kept my daughter talking at all times, even though she was disorientated. They treated her with the utmost respect and care.

Once at A&E she was assessed in the rapid assessment department and then moved into a cubicle ten minutes later. The HCA looking after her again was professional and chatty whilst doing their observations of my daughter. They then explained that the A&E doctor would be with us as soon as possible, and yes ten/fifteen minutes later along they came. They knew immediately what the problem was from talking to our daughter and again assessing her. They certainly put our minds at ease as best they could, and explained that they would send a message to the neurology team, and that we should get an appointment to see them within 8-10 weeks. Once all her blood tests etc came back clear our daughter was discharged. Again the Nurse whom came to take out her canular etc treated her with the upmost respect and care. In fact they were lovely, and took time out of their very busy morning to talk to us, and put our minds at rest once again as we packed up our stuff to go

All in all we were in the department nearly four hours, and we could not fault the staff, their manners, and politeness. I would recommed this hospital to anybody that needed to use it or be an inpatient.

Yesterday we then received a phone call from the Neurology team with an appointment for five weeks time, and not the 8-10 weeks that the A&E doctor had advised us that it could be. Thank you to everybody whom was involved in our daughters care, and in fact all staff within the NHS>
