"urgent 2 week referral for suspected skin cancer"

About: West Suffolk Hospital

My GP did an urgent referral on the advice of a consultant on 17/05/16 as they said I had a suspected malignant melanoma. The GP assured me that I would be seen within 2 weeks as this was the law. We'll the 2 week's are up today and not a word from this hospital. I rang and was told my appointment had only been made today for the 9/06/16.

I have written a letter of complaint, and am leaving this review as a warning to others waiting for appointments, don't wait for the 2 week's to be up before contacting them or you will find yourself waiting longer.

The NHS says that if the 2 week limit cannot be met they should offer you an alternative. Seems like they forgot this as well as my appointment

We're really sorry to hear this and would like to look into this matter further to make sure it doesn't happen again.

We would appreciate it if you could contact our PALs team via email pals@wsh.nhs.uk or telephone 01284 712555 so we can discuss this further with you and take some details. Thank you.
