I arrived in A & E on my first day of my holiday

Seen and left within 2 hours, staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient

An appointment given for the fracture clinic the next day. The consultant was extremely pleasant, helpful and a full explanation and guideance given for my management.

I am a physiotherapist myself so sometimes it can be expected that I already know how to manage this type of injury but when this happens to yourself it is completely different. This consultant treated me as an individual and not as another professional which was enlightening.

My whole experience has given me some faith back with the NHS and I would happily work in this hospital

My only gripe is that I have now returned home and will need to contact my local hospital for further follow up appointments of which I am sure that I won't receive the same personalised treatment but that of a number.

Dear Mr Birkett

Firstly I was very sorry to see you ended up in A&E on the first day of your holiday in the west country - however I was very pleased to see you had excellent prompt service from both specialities involved in your care, and that you were treated with such efficiency and respect. It can sometimes be challenging to pitch the level and degree of information given to fellow professionals, and we clearly got it right on this occasion.

I have shared your very positive comments with both service managers, where I know they will be warmly received, and shared with the relevant staff.

I do hope your injury is improving, and hope you manage to visit the area again in the future.
