"After care in Kettering general hospitals"

About: Kettering General Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Spent after care in Deane ward after bowel surgery, disgusted at the lack of help I received due to overworked doctors and nurses. Spent the night with a dying patient shouting at me to get the out, They eventually had their relatives called in who stayed with them till they died. Their body was left opposite me for 3 hours, the smell was horrendous. Next to me was a patient who was elderly and deaf using commode. Kept awake all night with buzzers going off.

I was unable to use toilets as they were both filthy. Blood on floor for over 3 hours and specimen left on top of toilet. Nurse had to clean toilet so I could use it. Got up alone and walked to toilet with drain of blood in hand, felt faint and nurse got me chair to sit on then left there to get myself back to ward.

It all got too much for me and I made my way down to reception and went outside. crying and desperate for a drink, visitor got me iced water and manager.

Phoned my son and asked him to get me out. I have a catalogue of several other problems which I am sending to chief exec and papers.
