"so tired of not being listened to"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Gynaecology

I read a lot about other people's experiences with seeing a gynecologist for the first time as I felt nervous and wanted to have an idea what to expect and what they would ask, I also wanted to cover all angles to avoid being fobbed off again - everywhere I read said they ask you to list and describe the symptoms and how often they happen etc. and the gynecologist would feel around to feel for anything not right, doing this would help the doctor to have some kind of idea what the problem may be and what steps to take next and perhaps medication that would help with the pain.

Reading this, I prepared for my appointment by writing down the symptoms I have as well as questions I wanted to ask. My appointment ended up being late as there was a delay due to the amount of patients that day which I didn't mind as I was still looking forward to finally getting an opinion from a specialist, one that specialises in the very thing I think I could have. I started to talk about my symptoms but was rushed, cut short and just got a bunch of 'mhms' and nothing else. They didn't ask any questions and didn't give me the time to ask any either. The doctor did not feel around where the pain is and told me they would possibly run a test but they would probably not find anything and the symptoms could be due to another problem I have, well that everyone seems to have because its all doctors can come off with but I've done so much research and no where are these two things related. It says it could contribute but is not the cause. I'm so tired of not being listened to, being fobbed of. The pain I am in and all the symptoms I have are NOT normal. No one should live like this every day. There should be better communication and support. Not all doctors are like this though, it's very hit or miss, there are a lot that DO put a lot of care into patients and that's wonderful but I'm still waiting for a good experience with someone who would just listen.
