"Language"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Dermatology

(as a relative),

The staff in this clinic need to watch their language, the nurses are quite foul mouthed using the F word and talking nastily about other staff members, where patients can hear. I was quite shocked at two nurses one threw a scrunched up bit of paper on the floor, the other nurse when to pick it up and one told her to leave it and I bet it will still be there tomorrow because he won't b****y clean it properly I'm a nurse why should I have to clean and hoover. I also heard a few other non uniformed staff members discussing fall outs with other staff members im sure you will agree this is not professional in addition I have heard the staff loudly discussing patients for all to hear. The staff also seem more interested in eating drinking playing on Facebook with their phones. I think the staff seem to forget they are their to do a job not ignore patients. The cleanliness of the clinic and corridor leading up to is also dirty but saying that cleanliness is always a problem in ninewells

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of our Dermatology Outpatient Department. We welcome all patient feedback as this provides us with a valuable insight into our service from the patient/relative’s perspective. I would like to apologise for the behaviours you noted whilst attending our clinic, they are totally unacceptable and we as a department certainly do not want to be perceived in this way. Our patients and their care are in the forefront of our minds at all times and the team are very committed to ensuring that they achieve care that is person-centred, clinically effective and safe, for every person, every time.

You can be assured that your opinion has been shared and discussed with all staff in the department and they have been reminded about our agreed ways of working and the visions, values and beliefs of NHS Tayside that all staff have signed up to.

Kind regards

L Crawford
