"Waited months for an appointment only to have..."

I am so upset and distressed. I have waited for months for an appointment to see a Rheumatologist only to be told 6 days before that the appointment is cancelled no reason given apart for 'the doctor is not available that day and there is no alternative date available to see that doctor'...Just left hanging in the air with no appointment!

I can't use my hand in the meantime and so cannot work and as an Artist I need to use my hand to produce work... I am in terrible pain everywhere, especially my dominant right hand.

Why does this happen?

Am I not entitled to an explanation as to the reason the doctor is not available?

After being on a waiting list should I not be offered an alternative date if my appointment is cancelled?

I feel for the administration staff who are given the task of issuing bad news such as this.I do however think that this is a shocking state of affair, that is costing the NHS in unnecessary administration time, doing a job, undoing a job and re doing a job...and therefore costing you and me. Emotionally, physically and financially.
