I went into Wythenshawe on the 12th May for surgery on the 13th.
I was kept in overnight for SAT's, blood, oxygen monitoring etc.
The following morning, my surgeon came in to see me and reassured me.
The surgeon had a big beaming smile and a lovely bedside manner.
I had great confidence in them.
They told me the operation was scheduled for later that afternoon.
Eventually, I was taken down to theatre where I met the anaesthetist.
Again, I was filled with confidence and this anaesthetist was really nice and chatty.
I had an epidural and although there were a few issues, eventually it was fine.
The anaesthetist remained by my side throughout the operation, checking my wellbeing.
I then went in to meet the surgeon and team and they explained everything to me again.
90 minutes later, I was out and wheeled off to the recovery suite.
A member of staff looked after me who was wonderful and couldn't do enough for me.
I was later taken to post surgical ward A6, where I remained until I was discharged 2 days later.
The following morning, I was up and about for a wash and a shave and the nurses were quick to ask if I needed support or help with anything. All in all, a service I cannot fault and I'm really grateful to the whole surgical and nursing team.
They all deserve a pat on the back.
"Wonderful service"
