"my father has been 'treated' ..."

About: Peterborough District Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

my father has been 'treated' in PDH and ECH on an off for the last 8 months. He is routinely left hungry thirsty and dirty. He is bed ridden and totally helpless, totally dependent on the good will of others. Some of the nurses are compationate, hard working, caring and a credit to the vocation. All too many are lazy, indifferent and slovenly. Doctors are generally unavailable, arrogant, don't listen or offer any meaningful information.

The wards stink. The food is tepid tasteless and not fit for pigswill. In fact my father said he'd fed pigs better. If it's not in glutenous gravy its wrapped in orange breadcrumbs. The results of these stays have been dreadfull and he has come out worse than when he went in. He has been robbed of all quality of life by PDH and ECH. He went in able to walk and use a toilet. He came out bedridden and incontinent. This was soley because he was just left in bed and helping him to walk regularly was too time consuming. Physiotherapy was a joke. I could go on and on. I am disgusted with his neglect.

What could be improved

everything.

The Trust takes the experiences of patients and visitors to our hospitals very seriously and we aim to provide a safe, caring and effective service. However, we do recognise there are occasions when an experience may not have met the expectations of our patients or visitors and we are keen to understand how we can make things better.

To help us continually improve our services for current and future patients and visitors we need feedback and are happy to look into any matter where a patient or visitor is disappointed with the service they received.

This feedback has been forwarded to the relevant department to look into in further detail. Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01733 875847 or email pals@pbh-tr.nhs.uk who will provide help and advice regarding any issue.

Thank you for visiting NHS Choices.
